Membership Dues
Pennsylvania NOW is a membership organization with annual dues of $45. When you join you automatically become a member of National NOW and Pennsylvania NOW, and you will be assigned, if you choose, to the chapter closest to you. If you cannot afford $45, there is a sliding scale from $18 to $44.
The Pennsylvania NOW Board of Directors raised the dues for NOW in PA from $35 to $45 on Saturday, April 14, 2007. This is the first raise in dues in Pennsylvania since 1976. This raise in dues will help both the state and local chapters cover basic management and communications expenses that have risen dramatically over the last 31 years.
For your information, the National NOW Action Center is in the process of updating their paperwork, membership computer program, and website to reflect this change. As a result, you may see some discrepancies between our website and the renewal information that you receive from the National NOW Action Center. Until they get their computer reprogrammed, we will be listed as having dues of $40 at the National web site. In addition, the printed renewal materials from the National NOW Action Center will say $35 until their current stock is depleted. Please accept our apologies for this, and thank you for bearing with us durign this transition period.

When you become a member of Pennsylvania NOW, you will receive newsletters from
all three levels of NOW:
- National NOW Times, our National newsletter
- Pennsylvania NOW Times, our State newsletter
- your local chapter newsletter
- You can attend NOW conferences at reduced rates
- You have the right to vote and help shape the direction of the organization.

Pennsylvania NOW was formed in 1971 after many local NOW chapters had already formed across the state. The need for a state organization grew out of organizing efforts to pass an Equal Rights Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution.
Today PA NOW remains a grassroots, non-profit, volunteer organization with over 9,000 members and 30 chapters statewide. We belong to the National Organization for Women based in Washington, DC which has over 500,000 members. NOW members are women and men, young and old, all colors, classes and backgrounds, working together to bring about equal rights for all women.
